Dr. Derek A. Paley, assistant professor, aerospace engineering

 

Dr. Derek A. Paley is an assistant professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. He received the B.S. degree in applied physics from Yale University in 1997. From 1997 to 2000, he worked as an analyst in the defense industry for Metron, Inc. in Reston, VA, and, from 2000 to 2002, he worked as a software engineer in the autonomous underwater vehicle industry for Bluefin Robotics Corp. in Cambridge, MA. He received the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton University in 2004 and 2007. His teaching and research interests include nonlinear dynamics and control, cooperative control of autonomous vehicles, adaptive sampling with mobile sensor networks, autonomous underwater vehicles, and spatial models of biological collectives.
